Cinnamon comes from the cinnamon tree, a tropical evergreen tree that is native to Sri Lanka, South India and Madagascar. The cinnamon tree can grow up to 15 meters high. The term "cinnamon" means the outer layers of cork and bark of young trunks, branches or suckers. The bark is peeled and scraped off with a knife. Cinnamon is used as a spice and food flavouring.
