Burt's Bees are renowned for scouring the earth to find the most natural, effective ingredients to put in their products. They have over 150 products which are 99% natural and on average with half being 100%!  They only use natural colours in their products. Some of these include beta-carotene, chlorophyll, titanium dioxide and mica. These natural colours have been proven safe, unlike many artificial colours that have been banned by the FDA over the years. As far as fragrance goes, they use it only when absolutely necessary, and it is always phthalate-free.

They never use artificial preservatives like methyl parabens or diazolidinyl urea. Their products contain only gentle, natural preservatives, like those made from sugar enzymes that both inhibit the growth of microorganisms and enhance product stability. They have developed a natural preservative for some of their water-based products (such as lotions) that mimics the defence systems found in the human body.
Their packaging is created from recycled materials, or is developed with recyclability and re-use in mind, like easy-to-recycle aluminium containers.
